As the jeep rattles and lurches down the bumpy path, you arrive at a fork in the road:

a)   If you take the path that’s most traveled by safari guides, you are guaranteed the classic sights of the jungle: the scurrying of squirrels, the chatter of the boisterous monkeys, a herd of deers grazing along the tranquil river.

And if luck is on your side, your well-trained eyes will discover pugmarks in the dirt—fresh tiger tracks. Do you

1)    If you decide to follow the tracks, you request the guests to maintain silence. As you move into the impenetrable jungle, the shadows play tricks with you. Suddenly, you hear the low, gruff growl of the Bengal tiger. He walks in the distant break of the trees, every movement graceful. He stops, glances over, and then disappears behind the bushes. Your guests are mesmerised, a look of thrill etched on their faces. Your decision has given them the chance to see what they came for.

2)   You can decide to stay in the same place, as patience is the greatest tool of a safari guide in the wild. Your guests are still like a stone. Afer a few moments, you see an orange flame flickering across the stately trees. The Bengal tiger emerges, his amber eyes locking onto the jeep, his muscles rippling beneath the sleek fur. And as silently as he arrived, the tiger returns to the jungle. Your guests are in awe.

1)   If you follow the sound, you will notice the rustling has stopped. In the thick foliage, a grey surface is visible, attached to gigantic white tusks. With ears fanning out, the wild elephant is closely followed by a baby elephant. The matriarch grunts, she isn’t pleased with your presence! Do you put your jeep in reverse mode or do you stand still?

a)   When you signal the driver to back up, the elephant gazes at you intently and luckily doesn’t charge towards you. Sensing your retreating jeep, she gently nudges her calf to move forward with her trumpet.

b)   As an experienced safari guide, you read the signs. The elephant’s ears are still and her body language calm. After sniffing the air one last time, she trumpets loudly and moves on. While the guests gasp in surprise at the sudden retreat of the wild elephant, the jeep is quickly but calmly set in reverse motion.
